Since 2016, CanFURence has been bringing people from all over the world together in Ottawa to celebrate the furry fandom in all of its creativity, diversity, and fun! Whether you are a fan of cartoon animals, cinematic creatures, or mascot characters, CanFURence caters to fans of all things anthropomorphic. To attend a CanFURence event or convention you must submit your information to register. The Registration staff is dedicated to your privacy.
Your legal name, address, date of birth, gender and all other information gathered is kept in the strictest of confidence. This information will not be shared with any other members of the staff of CanFURence unless there is specific legal requirement to do so.
Your comfort is our key, and your privacy matters to us.
We would be more than happy to resend you your details. Please email the registration team and we can send you your details again.
Within the Brookstreet, if you have purchased food from a hotel restaurant, you may bring only that food into the convention space.
There may be additional areas within the connvention space where CanFURence has prohibitted food or drink, and there will be signs posted if that is the case. You wouldn't want someone to get food all over your stuff now, would you?
Certain registration levels include meals and drinks - they can't be taken out from the designated dining areas (and no sharing either!).
Note: This restriction is specific to the Brookstreet - other events which we hold at other venues may not have the same restriction, but that is the way it is for the Brookstreet.
So long as the name you are requesting falls within the guidelines of the Code of Conduct and complies with our strict PG13 convention rating you may choose whatever name you wish. But there is only so much space on the badge.
Due to limitations on badge sizes, some badge names may require a shortened version of your registered name.

Yes, for online registrations we will accept other forms of payment such as Interac E-Transfer (Canadians only), cash and cheque.
If you want to pay by one of these alternative payment methods please contact us (select registration as the topic) and we will assist you.
If you are attending another event where we have a booth, you also have the option of paying by debit card, or credit card (although we can’t handle cheques or PayPal at an event).
For 2018, you’ll see us at events including Furnal Equinox, Ottawa Geek Market, and CAPE.
CanFURence was chosen as a nod the first furry conventions in the world which was named ConFurence. We opted to make it Canadian by simply tweaking the name. ConFurence ran from 1989 to 2003. We hope to do our name justice.
The first thing you need to do is register!
Please note that there is a small delay - possibly up to 24 hours - while your registration is processed by our hard working and dedicated Registration Staff. This is especially the case if you have paid by eTransfer.
You'll know that we have processed your registration because you will receive an email with a subject of Badge Record of Sale
Once you've received that email you will be able to log into your account on the registration site and you'll see the button that will take you to the Hotel booking site will be there.
You'll also notice on the login page for the Registration system it will list your badge number for CanFURence events.

Like any other minor, we must insist on a completed Minor Consent Form.
If your parent or guardian is not readily available to complete the form, here’s what you need to do.
If you are away from your parents and you have notified them of your intent to attend CanFURence, you can have your consent form signed by any legal Guarantor. Examples of this are Police officers, Judge, Professor, Lawyer, Notary Public or other governmental official.
A form submitted this way must be completed ahead of the convention. Please email the Registration team a copy of your signed form. This form must also be brought with you to the convention as well.
Yes, minors (under 18 years old as of the first day of the event) can attend!
In order to process their registration, minors must present a completed Parental Consent Form that has been signed by a parent, guardian, or equivalent. This is in addition to the requirement for all attendees that they must present legal identification in order to receive their registration.
All minors under 16 years old as of the first day of the event MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Minors who are 16 years old or older as of the first day of the event may attend without a guardian present.
Please have your identification and Parental Consent Form ready as this will allow the registration process to go faster.
